Coming Ashore es un corto documental multimedia que recoge la cobertura gráfica realizada en la ruta migratoria del Mediterráneo Oriental por los periodistas Santi Palacios y Mikel Konate.
Cerca de un millón de personas arriesgaron sus vidas al cruzar el Mediterráneo en 2015, a bordo de precarias pateras de plástico o madera, para alcanzar Europa. Unas 800.000, procedentes de países como Siria, Irak o Afganistán, lo hicieron a través del mar Egeo, entre las costas turcas y las islas griegas.
Esta pieza, de 10 minutos de duración, combina vídeo, fotografía y voz en off para mostrar el riesgo que afrontaron estas personas al tratar de alcanzar las costas europeas en busca de refugio, y cómo muchas de ellas perdieron la vida en el intento.
Coming Ashore is a short multimedia documentary that gathers the graphic coverage on the Eastern Mediterranean migratory route by journalists Santi Palacios and Mikel Konate.
Nearly one million people risked their lives by crossing the Mediterranean in 2015, aboard precarious plastic or wooden boats, to reach Europe. Some 800,000, from countries such as Syria, Iraq or Afghanistan, made it across the Aegean Sea, between the Turkish coasts and the Greek islands.
This 10-minute piece combines video, photography and voice-over to show the risk that these people faced when trying to reach the European coasts in search of refuge, and that many of them lost their lives in the attempt.
